What Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a regulated primary healthcare profession. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent disorders of the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, and muscles), as well as the effects these disorders can have on the nervous system and general health. They have a specialist interest in neck and back pain, but when they assess patients, they take their entire physical, emotional and social wellbeing into account.

The term “chiropractic” derived from the Greek “chir-” referring to the hand + “prassein”, to do = to do with the hands.

A chiropractic adjustment, also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation, is a common therapeutic treatment for lower back pain.

A chiropractic adjustment refers to a chiropractor applying a specific force in a precise direction in order to decrease pain and increase range of motion along with improving function.
